Matt Scheffler is a New England–born writer and director with a passion for bold, genre-driven storytelling. He began his career working art department in Boston’s commercial scene before joining Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO, where he became a scripted Field Producer, earning two Peabody Awards and crafting five EMMY-winning segments.

After five seasons and 150 episodes, Matt left to pursue his own stories, beginning with a Victorian Horror short, The Traveler, which he produced alongside his partner, Meghan-Michele. Over this time, he has since gained indie producing experience on HBO's Random Acts of Flyness, Black Twitter: A People's History, and the Sundance-winning feature Ricky, while directing commercials for brands like BMW, CBS, and Reese’s Puffs. His horror feature spec What To Expect When You’re Expecting Werewolves was a finalist at the LA International Screenwriting Festival, and the Black List described him as “a writer to watch.”
